Let Marketing Cook: Why Practice Owners Quit Too Early

marketing the profit weekly Aug 28, 2026

You hired the marketer. You ran the ads. You sent the emails.

Six weeks later, crickets. So you pulled the plug.

Here's the hard truth: you probably quit right before it started working.

Marketing has a lag. That's not a flaw in the system. It's just how it works.

When someone sees your content, they're not ready to book that day. They save it, think about it, mention it to a friend, forget, see you again, and then three months later they call.

That cycle takes time. More time than most practice owners are willing to give it.

Here's my rule: if you start a marketing campaign today, don't expect meaningful results for about six months. That's not pessimism. That's the actual math. Six months of consistent presence before the compound interest kicks in.

The practitioners thriving right now aren't the ones who found a magic ad. They're the ones who stayed consistent when it felt like nothing was happening. They let it cook.

What kills most marketing isn't the budget. It's the impatience. You change strategies every 90 days, and you never find out what actually works, because you never gave anything long enough to tell you.

Consistency is the strategy. Boring, unglamorous, hard-to-measure consistency.

Your move this week: Look at your current marketing. When did you start it? Has it been six months? If not, give it six months before you make any major changes. Track what's going in. And then wait.
