Stop Selling Time. Start Selling Outcomes.

pricing the profit weekly Sep 18, 2026

Most private-pay practices sell time.

A new patient hour. A follow-up. A package of visits. The patient buys a block of your calendar, and they hope it leads somewhere good.

Here's the problem: they have no idea when it ends. And that uncertainty is one of the biggest reasons they don't commit, or they commit, then disappear.

There's a better model.

Instead of selling visits, you sell an outcome with an end date. You tell the patient: here's what we're solving, here's the timeline, here's what this program costs from start to finish. They know the destination before they get in the car.

I've watched practitioners make this shift, and it changes everything.

  • The sales conversation becomes simpler.
  • The patient feels safer. They know what they're buying and when they're done.
  • Retention improves, because people who bought an outcome stay for the outcome.
  • Revenue per patient goes up, because you're pricing the result, not the hour.

The objection I always hear: "What if they need more time than I expected?"

That's a clinical conversation, and you handle it then. But most practitioners overprovide, not underprovide. The patient who buys a 3-month program and gets better in 10 weeks is your best marketing tool walking out the door.

Stop pricing your time. Price the transformation.

Your move this week: Pick one condition you commonly treat. Design a 90-day outcome-based program around it: one clear promise, one price, one end date. You don't have to launch it tomorrow. Just build it and see what it feels like.
