The Power of the Steady Drumbeat

One of the biggest mistakes I see practitioners make is confusing consistency with intensity.

When business slows down, they go all-in.

More networking. More social media. More outreach. More activity.

Then business gets busy, and all of those efforts disappear.

The problem is that growth doesn't come from occasional bursts of effort.

Growth comes from consistency.

I was speaking with a client recently who was worried because she hadn't been spending as much time on marketing.

Her schedule had filled up.

Patient care was demanding more attention.

The marketing hat had been hanging on the hook for a while.

But here's what she was missing.

The reason she was busy was the work she'd already done.

The networking. The referrals. The relationships. The consistent effort.

Business growth often works like farming.

You don't harvest the day after planting seeds.

You harvest months later.

The practices that grow year after year aren't necessarily doing extraordinary things.

They're simply maintaining a steady drumbeat.

A newsletter every month. A few referral touchpoints. A handful of conversations. A consistent presence.

Nothing flashy.

Just consistent.

The challenge is that consistency feels boring.

Most people want dramatic results from dramatic actions.

Business usually rewards the opposite: small actions repeated over time.

If your schedule is full right now, that's wonderful.

Just don't forget what helped fill it in the first place.

Keep the drumbeat going.
