The Problem You Prayed For
Jun 05, 2026A funny thing happens when your practice starts growing.
The very thing you've been working toward eventually becomes the thing that stresses you out.
At first, you want more patients.
Then you get them.
At first, you want a fuller schedule.
Then you get it.
At first, you want more opportunities.
Then suddenly, there are too many things demanding your attention.
I was talking with a client recently who was feeling overwhelmed. The days were moving faster. There wasn't enough time to get ahead. Marketing felt neglected. Administrative work was piling up.
In other words, business was working.
The challenge wasn't a lack of patients.
The challenge was that success had created pressure.
This happens to almost every growing practice.
The owner assumes something is wrong because things feel harder.
In reality, things feel harder because you've reached a new level.
Every stage of growth comes with a new set of problems.
The practitioner doing $10,000 a month has different concerns than the practitioner doing $100,000 a month.
The goal isn't to eliminate problems.
The goal is to earn better ones.
When I look at successful practice owners, they don't spend much time wishing for easier problems.
They spend their time building the skills required to solve bigger ones.
So if you're feeling some pressure right now, take a moment and ask yourself:
"Is this actually a problem?"
Or...
"Is this the problem I prayed for two years ago?"
Sometimes what feels like stress is actually evidence that you're growing.
